Females who have the fear of agony and pain, regularly decide on the caesarian section, unnecessarily even when they can deliver normally. However due to scientific advancements now the women can deliver naturally without going through a C section procedure. This has been made conceivable by epidural anesthesia which suits those patients who can’t endure labor pain. The technique of painless delivery called as Epidural Analgesia or Epidural Anesthesia is a popular technique used by women, if advised by the doctor, during labor. It gives relief from unbearable labor pain during deliveries. This procedure is totally fine for both – the baby and the mother. The thought and perception of pain during labor and delivery vary between people. Epidural anesthesia is a progressive method of pain management during labor, which guarantees that a pregnant lady has comfortable labor. It is a regional anesthesia in which a sedative medication is infused close to the spinal cord in the spinal canal.

How does painless delivery work? What to expect in painless delivery?
In an epidural, a local anesthetic – still derived from cocaine – is injected into the epidural space (the space around the tough coverings that protect the spinal cord). Epidurals block nerve signals from both the sensory and motor nerves, which provides effective pain relief but immobilizes the lower part of the recipient’s body. Epidurals interfere with all of the hormones. They inhibit beta-endorphin production, which in turn shuts down the shift in consciousness. Epidurals reduce oxytocin production or keep it from rising during labor. They also blunt the oxytocin peak that would otherwise occur at the time of birth because the stretching receptors of a woman’s lower vagina (which trigger the peak) are numbed.
